The coconut rhinoceros beetle (CRB) is an invasive species in Hawaii that damages palm trees by feeding on their crowns. Because the beetle has no natural predators in Hawaii, efforts are focused on control, including topical treatments to manage the spread of the beetle and tree removals to extinguish nesting grounds in dead trees. Often these pests cause severe damage that can be fatal to the tree, posing a threat to Hawaii's economy, agriculture, and native ecosystems. The Coco Crew treats palm trees topically with insecticides that when applied professionally, do not harm the island’s biodiversity (that includes bees).
